HOW DO I VOTE BY MAIL?
WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY BALLOT?
Ballots will be mailed out on September 26, 2018.
HOW CAN I CHECK IF I AM ON THE VOTERS LIST?
WHEN WILL THE PRELIMINARY LIST OF ELECTORS BE MADE AVAILABLE?
MPAC will provide the Municipality with the Preliminary List of Electors on August 21st. The list will be available at the Municipal Office for residents to check if their name, address, and school support, are correct.
WHAT FORM OF IDENTIFICATION DO I NEED TO CHANGE MY ADDRESS AND/OR SCHOOL SUPPORT?
CAN I MAKE CHANGES TO AN ADDRESS AND/ OR VOTER INFORMATION FOR SOMEONE OTHER THAN MYSELF?
You may only change your own information, except in the case of a deceased voter, whose surviving spouse or executor may remove the name from the voter’s list.
WHERE CAN I FIND OUT MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE CANDIDATES?
The Municipality is responsible for conducting the election. Candidate contact information is provided on our website; however, candidates’ platforms, biographies, etc., will not be available from the Municipal office. In addition, the municipality does not organize debates or other campaign functions. These are organized by outside groups or by the candidates themselves. Electors are encouraged to contact candidates directly for individual questions.
IF I OWN TWO PROPERTIES IN WEST NIPISSING, IN DIFFERENT WARDS, IN WHICH DO I VOTE?
The rule of thumb is that you vote in the ward in which you have your primary residence, so you “vote where you sleep”. If you own two properties in West Nipissing and neither of which is your primary residence (you reside elsewhere), then you can only vote in ONE ward.
CAN I VOTE FOR SOMEONE ELSE BY PROXY?
No. The Municipality of West Nipissing does not permit proxy voting. Since a Vote By Mail system is being used, ballots will be mailed to land owners at their primary mailing address.
