Flooding Emergency Update 2

May 10, 2019 11:00 am

The Municipality’s Emergency Control Group continues to monitor flood and road conditions. The evening of Thursday May 9, 2019 was stable as the rain subsided and wind conditions improved. West Nipissing Police patrolled affected areas throughout the night and will continue to do so today. As of this morning, water levels had decreased by 1 inch.

Although conditions are stable, water levels are expected to rise in the coming days. The Emergency plan remains active and the Municipality asks that residents remain vigilant. Emergency Services personnel have advised residents of road closures and evacuation options.

Residents who are in need of accommodations or volunteering assistance can call 705.753.1171.

In an effort to protect infrastructure and to avoid potential safety hazards, the public is instructed to stay away from the affected areas unless they are volunteering.
